Jason, Cole and myself
hit the beach
this morning to
find surprisingly great
conditions.

Found this
guy on the
way down
We
hit our spot
and quickly began
loading up on
a variety of
bait. Within a
short amount of
time we hooked
up on a
nice shark, ended
up being a
5'9" Sandbar.

From then
on we had
runs at least
every half hour,
but most of
the sharks were
picking up and
dropping the baits.
Jason and I
put out our
BIG baits(20+
lbs), and kept
catching Blacktips and
bluefish to occupy
our time.

Cole with
a nice tipper
An hour or
two after depoloyment,
Jason't 12/0 goes slack
and by the
time we notice
it, the shark
is gone. We
let it sit
for a couple
of hours but
eventually decide to
bring it in
and check it
out. Turns out
to have been
a large shark
and he took
some 5lb chunks
out of the
bait. A little
while later and
a few more
Tippers later I
see my 12/0 go slack,
get there...nothing.

Put it
back and wait...ten minutes later
it takes off
on a serious
run...not too
fast but sooo
powerful. I set
the hooks and
all I feel
is her weight
slowly chugging out
to sea, I
don't even
think she knew
I hooked into
her. A few
minutes later and
the most awful
feeling ever..slack.
Brought the line
in and find
my longline clip
pretty much straightened.
A few minutes
later Moose, Scott
and Repo cruise
by and I
filled them in
on what happened.
I was pissed
to say the
least. That's
part of fishing,
so I re
rigged a new
monster bait and
took it out.
Within an hour
or two, the
reel takes off
again. Missed the
hooks, brought it
in after dark
and it was
destroyed, huge 10-12 inch chunks
missing. We decided
to call it
a night and
headed in as
the wind was
picking up. Overall,
it was a
great trip but
I still can't believe that
clip folded like
it did. Another
fun day with
lots of sharks,
final tally was
9 sharks landed,
probably 20 dropped
baits with too
many bluefish and
mackeral to count.
There are more
photos I will
post up later
as my camera
battery died and
Jason has the
last half of
the days photos.
