After checking the forecast
yesterday I gave
Jason a call
and he told
me how bad
his dad had
been wanting to
go fishing so
we planned an
early morning shark
mission. The forecast
was calling for
2-3 foot
seas and 0
wind, which it
wasn't. I
was supposed to
work but decided
to call in
due to the
good fishing window.
We hit the
beach at 6:00am and worked
our way south.
Halfway down the
beach, I realized
that I forgot
to call into
the office...hope
I still have
a job on
Monday. Upon arrival
to our spot
we began running
assorted baits through
the increasing weed
and surf. After
a couple of
missed runs, I
was first to
hook up.

As
I was measuring
and tagging my
shark Jason's
6/0 wide
goes off and
he quickly lands
this 4'3"
Finetooth.

Another few minutes goes
by and my
6/0 wide
takes off on
a nice run.
Jason gets to
it and lands
a nice 5'2" Black Tip

The
shark fishing slowed
down into the
afternoon as the
weed made keeping
baits a constant
effort. We put
our focus on
fishing for other
species. After I
released a nice
slot red I
hook up with
a good fish.
I figured it
would be another
red, but was
pleasantly surprised with
a fat 25"
surf trout.

After releasing my trout, Jason and
his dad start
nailing the jacks.

The jacks
were not as
fortunate as the
other fish and
quickly went into
the cooler for
the next trip.
We decided to
pack it up
as the weed
really made fishing
difficult. We had
a great time
as usual and
it was good
to fish with
Jason's dad
again.
