Report by: Sam

With the beautiful weather conditions teasing me all evening Tuesday night, I had no choice but to call and beg for the day off. After it was granted to me, Bundy decided to head down early in the morning and secure a location, as I still had to attend a meeting until 11am. When I finally got down to Bundy's spot at about the 30, he had caught some trout and reds and had a few runs, but no hookups.
The weed looked like it was rolling in pretty good so we packed up his stuff and ran south a few more miles until we hit the motherlode of birds working frantically offshore.
I tore the kayak off my truck, loaded up with some spoons and was off in a matter of seconds. When I got to the birds I slung a spooner into the boiling water and it was immediately smashed by a fat bonita. He towed me around for a bit, then he got the gaff and the beat down once on the yak. Cast number two produced the same result, and another bonita lay bleeding profusely in my yak. Due to some complications in yak flotation(one of my flush mount rod holders fell off and I was sinking) and the blood that was filling up the yak, I headed in to get Bundy and empty my yak for round two.

We headed back out in search of more bait, but the birds and bonita moved farther offshore, and I wasn't willing to risk my yak that far out.
Shark rods were soon deployed and it wasn't too long before Bundy gets hooked up. A short fight yields him a nice little 5'6" blacktip

Two runs later I land this little booger. 5'1" blacktip:
